Aphrodite
Aphrodite is the goddess of love and beauty. Aphrodite was born from sea foam and appeared on a
big scallop as a full adult. She did not have a childhood. Aphrodite didn’t choose her own husband, instead
Zeus forced her to marry Hephaestus, the ugliest god. Zeus forced her to marry him because he was afraid that
the other gods would be violent to win her hand in marriage(she was extremely beautiful, the fairest of all).
Aphrodite was unhappy with Hephaestus and wanted to marry Ares, the god of war.
In the myth called The Judgment of Paris, all the gods and goddesses except Eris, the goddess of
chaos were invited to a wedding. Eris made an unexpected appearance and threw a golden apple between
the goddesses and announced that whoever was the prettiest would receive the golden apple. Hera, Athena,
and Aphrodite each claimed to be the fairest. Since they couldn’t decide between themselves they handed
the matters to Zeus, who also couldn’t decide. He handed the matters to Paris, the prince of Troy. Paris
couldn’t decide, for they were all beautiful. Since Paris couldn’t decide by himself, the three goddesses
started offering bribes. Hera offered control over Asia and Europe. Athena offered victory and survival in
every battle he enters. Aphrodite offered him the most beautiful woman, Helen of Troy. Paris chose
Aphrodite’s bribe. Paris soon kidnapped Helen and they went to Troy. When the king, Helen’s husband,
saw that she was kidnapped, he and his warriors went to Troy and the Trojan War started.
When Floweria (the goddess) finally decided that she would be the goddess of flowers, (she
was very pleased with herself for coming up with that) she was extremely tired from all that thinking so
she went to bed in her comfortable bed made of moss, grass, and at the bottom, bark. The next
morning she decided to make a seed, so she gathered herbs and leaves and tree bark and fashioned
the first seed. She fashioned different kinds of seeds, gray seeds, black, brown and spotted seeds,
striped, tan, and yellow seeds, circular, oval like, and squared seeds. She also made sunflower seeds,
tulip seeds, rose seeds, dandelion seeds, and all different kinds of seeds. By now it was already getting
dark so Floweria decided to finish the process the next day. She hid her work under a dark leaf ad a big
piece of bark so nobody would find it and ruin it, she didn’t want that to happen because she worked
very, very hard on completing her invention and she didn’t want anything or anyone to ruin it. She lay
down in her bed, and soon she was fast asleep.
As soon as Floweria woke up she ran to the hiding place where she was keeping her work
and seeds and picked up the leaves and bark and sighed with relief, for everything was still where she
had left it overnight and sighed with relief because it was still there and not ruined. She grabbed one
seed (in that case it was a dandelion seed) and went out into the forest to find good topsoil. On the way
she stopped to gather her water cup (made of stable leaves and hard rocks and tree bark) and a rocky
shovel in case her hands got tired (which wasn’t very often). Soon she got deep into the forest where
she usually found good topsoil (which she did find) and sat down onto the green grass. She carefully
placed the seed down and dug a small hole for her dandelion seed and placed the seed carefully
inside in the middle of the hole. Then she tenderly covered the seed with soil and sprinkled it with water
and waited for the water to be soaked in(she knew how to do this because she had planted lots of
different types of plants before, but never flowers).
Lastly, she remembered that she had to make sure that her flower got sunlight, like all other plants, so she
climbed up the tall trees and separated the branches and leaves until her flower could reach the sunlight,
She tied the branches into place with sturdy ropes and then she climbed down. When everything was done
it was already dark so she covered her seeds, lay down, and went to bed. She really doubted her
experiment to invent flowers, but she still thought it was worth a try, because she was very curios. The next
morning Floweria woke up early and grabbed her watering cup and ran through the forest until she reached
where her flower was planted. She was disappointed when she saw it had not sprouted yet, but she still
watered it just in case it was about to sprout but hadn’t sprouted yet. Soon it was nighttime and she went to
bed. The next day the flower had not sprouted, and the day after that it didn’t sprout either. Now she was
beginning to think that something was wrong with the seed, but then, finally, on the fourth day, the seed
sprouted, and Floweria was so surprised that that it had sprouted that she almost spilled the water cup but
she caught it just in time. A week past quickly and it had grown into a grown-up, beautiful flower.
