Eco system
An ecosystem includes all of the living things (plants, animals and
organisms) in a given area, interacting with each other, and also with
their non-living environments (weather, earth, sun, soil, climate,
atmosphere). n an ecosystem, each organism has its' own niche or role
to play.
Consider a small puddle at the back of your home. In it, you may find
all sorts of living things, from microorganisms to insects and plants.
These may depend on non-living things like water, sunlight, turbulence
in the puddle, temperature, atmospheric pressure and even nutrients
in the water for life. (Click here to see the five basic needs of living
things)
introduction
We
will be talking about insects
and animals the first one will be
woodlice
WOODLICE
That has 14 parts to its body, which gives the
woodlouse the flexibility to be able to curl into a ball
to protect itself from danger.
This means that only the hard outer shell of the
woodlouse is exposed .
The woodlouse is found in dark, damp places in
forests and jungles throughout the world.
The woodlouse feeds on decaying leaf and plant
matter on the forest floor.
Squirrel
The second one will be a squirrel
squirrel
Squirrels are nimble, bushy-tailed rodents found all over the world.
They belong to the Sciuridae family , which includes prairie dogs,
chipmunks and marmots.
they are categorized into three types: tree squirrels, ground squirrels
and flying squirrels.
These three categories are further broken down into many squirrel
types, such as Albino, Mountain Tree, Antelope, Spotted, Grey,
American Red, Douglas, Fox, Pygmy, Northern Flying, Southern,
Arizona Gray, Idaho, Arctic Ground, Albert’s, Franklin, Richardson,
Rock, White and Black squirrel.

The
next one we will be talking
about is owls.
Owls
There are lots of different types of owls.
Most owls are nocturnal.
That means that they sleep during day.
Owls mostly eat mice or small rodents.
Some even eat small birds.
Owls have super good hearing and eyesight.
When owls fly very silently.
Ecosystem
The
oak tree
supports insects:
beetles, ladybird,
wasps and ants.
Ecosystem
The
oak tree supports
many birds who eat
the insects and nests in
the tree.
Owl, Sparrow and
Hawk.
Ecosystem
The
oak tree
supports small
animals such as
wood mouse,
hedgehog and
mouse.
Ecosystem
The
oak tree
supports larger
animals like the fox.
the squirrel, and the
badger
Ecosystem
Lichen
grow at the
oak tree.
Lichen is a living
fungi.
The fungi helps rot
the dead leaves.
Ecosystem
Wild
flowers grow
near the trees such as
cowslips, primroses
and daffodils.
Ecosystem
Insects
build homes on
the tree.
Animals shelter in the
tree and eat insects.
Animals and insects
eat the fruit, the bark
and the leaves.
Birds eat the insects.
Birds build nests.
Ecosystem
The
leaves
provide a
wonderful place
for insects to lay
their eggs.
Such as the
butterfly.
Ecosystem
The
two types of
squirrel ( red
squirrel & gray
squirrel ) use the
trees to build their
homes (drey).
They eat and store
thousands of acorns.
Ecosystem
The
fox uses
the tree to
catch other
smaller
animals.
Man
We
use the oak to
build ships,
furniture and pot
handles.
