dioxide + ENERGY+ water vapor
 This occurs in cells!
 It is NOT the same thing
as breathing, it is a way
to make ENERGY
2. Reproduction- to make more
(copies)of a species
 2 Different Types
 Sexual- involves 2
parents
 Asexual- involves 1
parent
3. Response to Stimuli- a reaction
to an action
 Stimulus- something
that causes a reaction or
a response
 Ex: You shiver when
your cold
 Respond to environment
 Aka.. SENSITIVITY
4. Growth- to develop emotionally
& physically over time
 Cells multiply
 Cells get larger (1x celled
organisms)
5. Movement- internal or external
motion
 Ex: running, heart
beating, blood flowing,
flowers bending toward
sun, trees move water
from ground to leaves
6. Excretion- to get rid of waste
 Ex: animals go to the
“bathroom”, trees release
oxygen from leaves
7. Nutrition- to get basic needs
met (food, water, nutrients)
Organism- any living thing
Homeostasis- regulation of an
organism’s internal conditions, despite
change in the environment
 Ex: keeping right
amount of food, sugar &
water in cells
 Ex: keeping body temp
around 98.6 degrees F
