Focus 1: William Morris, design and print
wallpaper
Focu 2: Sewing using binca fabric
Who was William Morris? When did he live and what
style of Art did he produce?
What features are common to William Morris wallpaper
designs?
How can I create a wallpaper design using my
polystyrene tile to print a repeating pattern?
What do I like about my wallpaper design and what
changes might I make to improve it?
What different types of stitches can I use to create a
Victorian sampler?
Study a range of William Morris wallpaper designs
and look for common themes (leaves, flowers, fruits,
birds etc,)
Draw a range of motifs in the style of William Morris
and select best two to use in wallpaper design
Copy designs onto polystyrene tiles, pressing firmly
with a pencil to create a recess then cover evenly
with acrylic paint using a roller. Press down firmly
onto paper and alternate between the two motifs to
create a repeating pattern wallpaper design
Review all wallpaper designs. Which design and
colour combinations are the most effective?
Use binca (material with holes in it) to create a piece
of sewing using a rang of stitches and colours to
create a pattern. (running stitch, cross stitch etc.)
