WIND DISPERSAL

Western salsify or goatsbeard showing dense,
puff-like cluster of numerous parachute
seeds. Each achene has an umbrella-like
crown of plumose hairs and may literally be
carried into the atmosphere by strong
ascending air currents.
WATER DISPERSAL
Although seeds of plants that grow in
water are obviously spread by water,
there are many other ways in which
water plays a part in dispersing seeds.
• Seeds of some tropical trees can even be
carried along by ocean currents to land
on shores half a world away.

ANIMAL DISPERSAL
 Animals of all sorts and
sizes help plants to
disperse their seeds. The
method they use depends
on the type of seed.
EXPLOSION DISPERSAL - SPLITTING
 Some plants provide their
fruits (seedpods) with a
mechanism that ejects the
seeds from the pod by force.
HELICONIA
Heliconia, derived from the Greek word helikonios, is
a genus of about 100 to 200 species of flowering
plants native to the tropical Americas and the Pacific
Ocean islands west to the Indonesia.
 These herbaceous plants range from 0.5 to nearly
4.5 meters tall depending on the species
simple leaves of these plants are 15–300 cm.

ORCHID


The Orchidaceae or orchid family is a
diverse and widespread family of flowering
plants with colorful and fragrant blooms.
The family also includes Vanilla, and
many commonly cultivated plants such
as Phalaenopsis and Cattleya.
GINGER


Ginger or ginger root is
the rhizome of the plant zingiber
officinale, consumed as a
Delicacy, medicine, or spice. It lends
its name to its genus and family.
Ginger cultivation began in South Asia
and has since spread to East Africa
and the Caribbean.
DILLENIACEAE

Dilleniaceae is the botanical name, for
a family of flowering plants. Such a
family has been universally recognized
by taxonomists. It is known to
gardeners for the genus Hibbertia,
which contains many commercially
valuable garden species.
