Parts of a Plant
Plants have 4
major parts. They
are:

Roots
The purpose of the roots are to hold
the plant in the ground. The roots
suck up the water. In to the stem
and in to the leave to make it’s food.
Stem
The purpose of the stem is it holds
the plant together. It also carries the
water from the roots to the leaves.
Flower stems are skinny, but tree
trunks are wide.
Leaves
The purpose of the leaves are to take
in oxygen. It uses the oxygen,
sunlight, water, and chlorophyll to
make food for the plant. Without the
leaves the plant would die.
Flower
The purpose of the flower is to make
new plants by making seeds. They
also have pollen that travels from
flower to flower. Pollen is carried by
water, wind, and animals.

My Life as a Plant!
I am a gum ball tree. I am 400 years
old. I was people walking by. I live by
getting lots of sun, water, and air. That’s
the way all plants live. They use these
things plus chlorophyll to make food by
photosynthesis. People tried to cut me
down but I threw gum balls at them and
they ran away. They came back and did it
again, but then they decided that I was a
special tree and didn’t try to cut me down
anymore.
