of garbage each year,
enough to fill Bush
stadium from top to
bottom twice a day.
Selection of Topic
• The club decided that we wanted to improve our
community through recycling, within the school.
• We discussed how we could improve our school
grounds
• Several items for recycling that we discussed were:
– Aluminum cans
– Newspaper
– White paper
– Plastic
– Glass
• Final Decision
Our Mission
Our mission is to begin a recycling
program at our school and then bring
what we learned home. This will be a
first step to improving our community.

It takes a 15 year old
tree to produce 700
grocery bags.

Earth Day Cleanup
Earth Day – April 22nd was
celebrated by all science
classes taking an active role
in helping to clean and
beautify our school campus.
200 large garbage bags were
collected, leaves were raked
and flowers were planted. All
students had a good time and
our campus looked great!

Future Goals
• For everyone to recycle on a regular basis,
not only at school but at home and within
their community
• Keep school looking clean and new
• Help the environment
• Educate family and friends
• Our goal for next year is to recycle
additional materials
