Permanent ponds surrounded by tree
Highly structured shallow wetland with ready
vegetation
Biodiversity and Sustainability
Temporary small wetlands
Small rivers over rocks and cliffs
Terrestial Landscape Element of Quarry Sandyclay Hambalang

Biodiversity and Sustainability
Significant species at Hambalang

According to the short survey, Hambalang appears to provide significant
habitats for the following species groups:
– Birds (Aves)
– Herpetofauna (Amphibia, Reptilia)
– Mammals (Mammalia)
– Dragonflies (Odonata), Butterflies (Lepidoptera), Grasshoppers
(Orthoptera)
– Plants (Plantae)
Biodiversity and Sustainability
Butterflies (Lepidoptera)
Butterflies were seen commonly in all landscape elements, but
especially at the lowest level where vegetation is plentiful
Many species were seen taking in minerals on moist clay soil
Vegetation diversity suggest reproduction by many species
Biodiversity and Sustainability
Grasshoppers (Orthoptera)
Grasshoppers were very common on the dry upper benches and also the
wetlands on the lowest levels
Many different species are involved, suggesting that Hambalang offers significant
habitats for this group
Biodiversity and Sustainability
Dragonflies (Odonata)
Dragonflies were encountered with many species around the wetlands on the
lowest level of the quarry
Other areas away from wetlands were used for hunting, especially the cliffs
Biodiversity and Sustainability
Mammals (Mammalia)
No species encountered, but tracks indicate the presence of several
medium to large species.
In some Place we were found monkey
Biodiversity and Sustainability
Herpetofauna (Amphibia, Reptilia)
Frogs were very common in wetlands area especially in transition area, and
Lizards were founded in mature tree area
Biodiversity and Sustainability
Birds (Aves)
Female Painted Snipe Berkik-kembang besar
Javan Kingfisher
Biodiversity and Sustainability
Cekakak jawa
Yellow Bittern Bambangan kuning
