A
narrow, generally cylindrical implement
for writing, drawing, or marking, consisting
of a thin rod of graphite, colored wax, or
similar substance encased in wood or held
in a mechanical holder.

pencils are NOT used like crayons!
You should use your colored pencil as if
you are painting with a pencil.
- Start by “Blocking In” your “Local
Colors”
- Slowly use the techniques you’ve
learned from drawing to build up
your values.
- Think of lights and darks, shape
and form, and creating detail.

environment: Flowers, leaves, trees, plants,
insects, fruits, vegetables, food, etc.
