…in June 1941, the population of Leningrad
was about 2,500,000.
The most terrible siege of the city in the
military history of mankind lasted 871 day
Road of Life
For transportation of the food and ammunition there was
the only way - on the Ladonezhsky lake. By the war
beginning it was a little mastered and practically isn't
studied
Winter of 1941 - 1942
Froze plumbing and sanitary.
Behind water went on Neva Embankment, did
an ice-hole and gathered water under attacks.
such it was - the soldering of blockade bread
for workers - 250 grams a day
for employees and children - 125 grams
A surprising number of people died of hunger
But the city lived and fought. plants continued to manufacture
military products . Hungry exhausted people continued to let out
military production found forces to work. Factory bombed, there
were fires, but nobody left workplaces.
Plant gate daily left tanks and went on the front.
On January 18, 1943 the enemy ring was broken through, and on
January 27, 1944 the Siege of Leningrad was completely raised
Those who endured blockade, were ordinary people. They endured the impossible
- an ice hell.
They leave, and together with them the history leaves. on
us depends that it didn't leave forever
