Opening
• 5-10 min. Explain to the students in several
sentences about Gush Katif, and that the 22nd of
Shvat was chosen as Gush Katif Day in the
Education system.
• Present them with the board and explain that
during the week you will put up info. and riddles
for them to read and solve – and they are
welcome to add their own material.
• Conclusion (end of the week): the correct

• Arid sand dunes covered themselves with greenery
for the Gush Katif residents. They founded an empire
of bug-free leaves, cherry tomatoes, peppers, herbs,
flowers, and more. Gush Katif agriculture was among
the most advanced in Israel.

• Gush Katif spread out over golden sand dunes,
surrounded by palm trees and the blue sea.
The feeling was of living inside a picture.

• Three years after the six day war, the decision
was made to return and settle the Gaza Strip.
Slowly, one by one the communities were
established until they became a block of 21
settlements.

• Everyone knows one another, it is one big
family, a warm and diverse community that
has grown together in the sand dunes.

• The Israeli chain stretched from the Erez crossing
until the Western Wall. Additional unique ways of
fighting the Disengagement Plan were the orange
streamer, “face to face,” and “believing and
planting.”

• We remember what we had and what was
destroyed. We’ll continue to proclaim our spirit: our
faith in G-d, our community spirit, our belief in
settling the land of Israel and in social projects. We
will continue until the nation of Israel wishes to
return to Gush Katif.
