In lots of places, winter has lots of snow
and cold temperatures. This is a snow
storm. The cold temperatures can be
dangerous.
Winter storms start from the fronts of two
air masses of different temperatures and
water. Winter storms usually happen
when cold , dry, air moves south and
combines with warm, moist air.
The chart above shows the way snow
is made and falls in precipitation.
This chart shows the
angle of the way snow
falls.
Through the first and last months of
winter. These months are December and
February.
Listen to the radio or TV for watches and
warnings. If you hear a Blizzard Warning it
means that, other then snow, winds of 35
mph or bigger are probably happening for at
least 3 hours.
