problems
Pollution
Air pollution
• components: carbon monoxide, sulphur
dioxide, nitrogen dioxide
• resources: thermal power stations, motor
vehicles, burning of fossil fuels, coal mining,
mineral mining, stone mining, aerosols
• effects: acid rain, smog
• health problems: pulmonary diseases, cancer
• solution: alternation of fuel, natural power
resources, boycotting pollutants, factory
legislation
Water pollution
• by biological materials: suds, faeces
• by chemical materials: oil, detergents, phenols,
fertilisers, pesticide
• by physical materials: radioactive pollution,
thermal pollution
• effects: absence of drinking water, death of
some water species
• solution: avoid to evasion of damaging
materials, protect ground water, closed water
circuit
• redundant eutrophication- overpopulation of
krill and cyanobacteria, sewage treatment
plant
Soil pollution
• caused by: hydrocarbons, pesticides, heavy
metals
• transport of chemicals, tanker crashes, land
filling, sludge from sewage treatment plant
• effects : soil degradation, erosion, death of
animals
• solution: waste composting, accurate way of
agriculture
Leavings
• = things, we want to banish
• sorts: communal waste
residual communal waste
solid communal waste
household waste
decomposable waste
• hazardous waste, mill residues, nuclear waste,
agricultural waste, car wrecks
• effects : air pollution, water pollution, soil
pollution, modification of landscape
• solution: produce less waste, maximal utilizing
of things, buying eco products, waste sorting (
plastic, paper, glass+ metals, electrical
products, decomposable waste,..recycling)
Change of the landscape appearance
• caused by: agriculture, industry ( especially
heavy industry- factories, plants,..)
• coal mining, stacks, reminders of mines,
ploughed balks, concreted flows, monoculture
forests
• solution: national parks, protected landscape
areas
Species extinction
• background extinction- natural, average
durability of species
• mass extinction- a lot of species in a short time
for example: extinction of dinosaurs( before 65
million years)
species extinction during the
burning and mining in rainforests
• caused by: natural disaster or human activity
• solution: protected plants and animals
Climatic changes
• caused by: burning of fossil fuels, produce of
CO2, aerosols, dust, deforestation, drainage
• effects : greenhouse effect global warming,
melting glaciers, sea level rise, thunderstorms,
floods , damage to the ozone layer
• solution: low greenhouse
gas emissions
Transport
• greenhouse gas emissions ( carbon dioxide,
nitrous oxide)-especially from road transport fuels
• accidents
• consumption of energy(electric) and fuels
• noise-especially in big towns- health problems
• solution: using public transport, bicycle paths,
road tax, limitation of parking
Depletion of natural resources
• Non renewable resources- coal, fossil fuel, oil,
natural gas, nuclear, peat
• air pollution, leavings from mining, residual
fissionable fuel
• Solution: renewable resources-natural,
considerate to environment (hydropower
energy, solar energy- solar collector, biomass
energy, wind energy- airscrew, geothermal
energy, tidal energy)
Tourism
• a big development today
• air pollution, water pollution, building
edifices in nature, distortion of protected
landscape areas, produce of leavings
• solution: responsible attitude to nature
Ecological organizations
• Greenpeace CZ
• „Děti Země“
• „Hnutí Brontosaurus“
• Czech Union for Nature
Conservation
• The Czech Environmental Partnership
