What is FTP?
 Stands for File Transfer Protocol
 Is used to send files over a TCP network, such as the
Internet. (TCP is how digital information is sent over the
net)
 Best of use to creators of websites.
How is FTP used?
 Client creates web-page files that client wants to transfer
to a FTP server.
 Client logs in to FTP account and sends to server.
 Server receives file.
 Or vice-versa when you download a file from the server.
(ie website)
Why is FTP used?
 Secure File Transfer to a server. (Eg website you
created)
 In the case of the creator sending a file to his website,
because the file in progress should not be edited on the
website, and only the finished product should be
updated.
 So that the content will be available online.
How to use FTP
 Point the file in the direction of a FTP server.
 Enter information, such as FTP Host, FTP Account
Username & Password and a FTP port such as the IP
address of the server.
 FTP Accounts must be created on the FTP Host Server
