Course Description



This course will introduce you to the WWW
and the technology associated with creating
WebPages.
This will be done from a Human Computer
Interaction standpoint.
This means that you will learn how to develop
web pages that are designed with the end
user’s abilities, needs and limitations at the
forefront of the designing process.
Course Goals





What the technology behind the WWW and
WebPages consists of.
What the basics are regarding files and
images in terms of size format, structure.
How to create user centered documents and
applications for the WWW.
How to use HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to
build such pages.
What usability consists of and simple
evaluations for measuring it.
Course Structure





Each class will have lecture, discussion and
lab work or in class exercises.
Reading is assigned for every class.
Your homework will allow you to practice
what you learn in the book and in class.
The midterm and final projects will allow you
to polish your skills and create quality work.
The midterm exam will test on lecture,
reading and the assignments.

Critique a favorite website and write a review.
Read about FTP and your DePaul UNIX account.
Find, download and install an FTP/telnet program
Create a pub_html file in your hawk account, set the
permissions, and FTP your critique to the pub_html
folder of your hawk account.
Email me the URL of the review document
Determine business oriented topic of website you will
create during this quarter.
Bring a hard copy of your review document and
written description of your topic to class next week.
