o Video Server Introduction
What is “CCTV”
•Traditional surveillance system can be applied to observation from a distance by means
of analogue video camera, the video camera also called CCTV (Closed-circuit television).
An analogue video signal output from CCTV to recorder by coaxial cable.
• Before digital video and IP network technical become popular and standardization,
traditional analogue video camera system already have 67 years history (The first CCTV
system was installed by Siemens AG at Test Stand VII in Peenemünde, Germany in
1942).
•Most of market analysis report indicate that : compare with IP base video surveillance,
CCTV still have large market share in worldwide

o Video Server Introduction
 What is “Video Server”
•An IP video server converts analog video(CCTV) signals into IP video streams. The IP
video server can stream digitized video over IP networks in the same way that an IP
Camera can. Because an IP Video server uses IP protocols, it can stream video over any
network that IP can use, including via a modem for access over a phone or ISDN
connection. With the use of a video server attached to an analog camera, the video from
an existing surveillance system can be converted and networked into a new IP surveillance
system.

o Video Server Introduction
 Why “Video Server”
•In the video security industry a video server is a device to which one or more video
sources can be attached. Video servers are used to give existing analog systems network
connectivity. Video servers are essentially transmission/ telemetry / monitoring devices.
Viewing is done using a web browser or in some cases supplied software. These products
also allow the upload of images to the internet or direct viewing from the internet. In
order to upload to the internet an account with an ISP (internet service provider) may be
required.

o Product Overview - Target Market
 Digitalize Demand
 DVS-210-1 provides the opportunity to take advantage of many
benefits that digital technology offers, perfect for installations where
analog fixed cameras to be used in an IP-based video surveillance
system
 Saving Money
 Keep exist CCTV system and add video server, it is the ideal choice
for bank offices, airports, governmental, industrial buildings, traffic
surveillance, and prisons, essentially anywhere an analog surveillance
system is already installed.
 Reduces Risk
 Video server can service each camera independent and save data
to several different storage target.
o Product Overview - Positioning Highlights
 1-channel MPEG4
 DVS-210-1 is first 1-channel
MPEG-4 video server (encoder) in
D-link surveillance product line.
 Entry Level
 Designed for migrating an
existing analog CCTV (closed circuit
television) to an IP-based video
surveillance system.
 Cost benefit

o Technology Brief
 HTTPS for network security
 Hypertext Transfer Protocol over Secure Socket Layer or HTTPS is a
URI scheme used to indicate a secure HTTP connection. It is
syntactically identical to the http:// scheme normally used for
accessing resources using HTTP. Using an https: URL indicates that
HTTP is to be used, but with a different default TCP port (443) and an
additional encryption/authentication layer between the HTTP and TCP.
•11
o Technology Brief
 HTTPS (cont.)
 The HTTPS cannot be enabled if there is no certification on the device.
 There are three possible ways make you can enable the HTTPS, create
certificate request and upload the certificate file which is signed by
third party already, create self-signed certificate automatically and
Create self-signed certificate manually.
12
o Technology Brief
 Privacy Mask for personal secret

Privacy Mask feature allows you to block out certain sensitive zones for privacy.
You can set up to five privacy mask windows in the same screen. Privacy
masks will appear on all video streams and recording videos and will overlap
with motion detection windows. As seen in the figure below, the masked area
does not detect any motion.
