GVSystem/NVR/Hybrid
• Goal: Understand different models of GV-System and the
difference between NVR and DVR and Hybrid.
• At the end of the class, you should be able to provide the right
GV-System to the customer depending on their requirements
and the uses of NVR.
GeoVision Inc.
GV-NVR

capture card.
• GeoVision’s NVR solutions support not only own-brand IP
video products but also products from leading manufacturers.
• You are able to connect up to 32 IP cameras, providing that
you have the right dongle.
GeoVision Inc.
GV-Hybrid
• Integrates analog videos with digital videos from IP video
devices.
• GeoVision’s Hybrid solutions support not only own-brand IP
video products but also products from leading manufacturers.
• You are able to connect any combination of analog cameras
and IP cameras for a maximum of 32 channels, providing that
you have the right dongle.
GeoVision Inc.
Types of Dongle
•
Three types of USB dongles are provided for GV-NVR’s connections to different IP
devices.
•
NVR (GV) Dongle: This is used for implementation of GV-NVR with GeoVision IP
video devices. The dongle options include 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28 and 32 IP
channels.
NVR Dongle: This is used for implementation of GV-NVR with third-party IP video
devices. The dongle options include 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26,
28, 30 and 32 IP channel(s).
Combo Dongle: This is used for implementation of GV-NVR with a mix of
GeoVision and third-party IP video devices. The dongle options include the
combined options of NVR (GV) Dongle and NVR Dongle with the limit of 32
channels in total. Inform your sales representative of the exact number of GV IP
channels and third-party IP channels you need, so the Combo Dongle can be
delivered upon your requirements. For example, you need 12 GV IP channels plus
8 third-party IP channels. Therefore, the number of channels in the requested
Combo Dongle is 20, and the total number of channels for your NVR System is 20.

• To retrieve the data from the dongle, click Select All. The information of
the dongle will be displayed in the information field. Note the displayed
number of “HW Serial” should be the same as that on the dongle.
• To save the data to your local computer, click Save Key ID Data. If you
have more than one dongle to upgrade, click Batch Save. Different dongle
data will be saved as separate files. The file will be named after the serial
number on the dongle and saved as *.out. For example, if a dongle serial
number is 7116442, the file is named “NVR-7116442.out”.
• Send this data file to GeoVision at [email protected]. The
GeoVision will examine the data file and send an *.in file back to you. The
file name also includes the serial number of that dongle. In this example,
the data file to be sent back is named“NVR-7116442.in”.

ONVIF and PSIA
• The GV-System is now compatible with all other IP video
devices using ONVIF and PSIA standards. The ONVIF (Open
Network Video Interface Forum) specification and PSIA
(Physical Security Interoperability Alliance) specification are
global standards created to ensure network video products
from different manufacturers are compatible with each other.

GV-Hot Swap DVR V4
•
The GV-Hot Swap DVR System V4 features a powerful data storage capacity. It
comes with a selection of 2, 4, 8, or 20 bays via hot-swappable SATA mobile racks.
Depending on HDD size, the GV-Hot Swap DVR System V4 can reach the
maximum storage capacity of 30 terabytes. Support for hot-swapping makes data
storage and management more convenient.
•
GeoVision Surveillance System empowers the GV-Hot Swap DVR System V4 with
a maximum of 32 audio and video channels, and a recording rate of up to 960 FPS
(NTSC) / 800 FPS (PAL). Its networking capability makes the remote access and
control of the system possible. Additionally, its compatibility with other GeoVision
accessories can cater to any kind of needs or budgets. By extending the
compatibility to the third-party IP devices, both GeoVision Surveillance System and

GV-Storage System
•
GV-Storage System is a high-performance RAID storage system based on the
latest iSCSI technology. It provides a centralized network recording solution over
TCP/IP by enabling the storage of multiple video and audio streams at the same
time.
Providing a cost-effective and shared storage solution over the network, users can
use their existing Ethernet infrastructure to implement the GV-Storage System. No
specialized adaptors, switches and cables are required for DVR servers. And there
are no limitations on the number of GV-Storage Systems implemented in a single
application. GV-Storage System can store data from GV-Video Server, GVCompact DVR and GV-DVR/NVR via TCP/IP.

Integration
• The new guideline for the 3rd party IP integration as follows:
•
Stage 1: After George agreed to support particular model of the 3rd party IP device which requested from
sales or customer, then FAE or Vincent Chen will try to borrow that device for R&D do the further
integration.
•
Stage 2: When R&D have finished the integration and provide the patch file to FAE. FAE will test it with the
physical IP device and see the result is OK or not. If FAE can’t get that device in hand, we will try to test it
by remote connection or ask customer do the test and provide the test report to GeoVision.
•
Stage 3: If FAE got the test report and confirmed all functions are work OK, then FAE will put it on the
supported list and announced it to sales and branch offices immediately.
•
Stage 4: FAE will confirm with R&D and get the details about what integration method we applied for that
particular model of the 3rd party IP device. Then FAE will contact with manufacture and ask them provide
the series product models which use the same H/W kernel and integration method to GeoVision.
•
Stage 5: When FAE have above information from manufacture, then we will base on their replied or
provided document to update these series models to our supported list directly. The only difference on
these models that FAE will note “This model has the same protocol with the XXXXX IP device, but their
compatibility has not been tested by GeoVision. Please take a test before purchasing the IP device.”
