Two Modes of Testing Supported

Network Mode




MT8860B acts as Access Point (AP) or Station (STA)
Connects to DUT using standard signalling
This is the most representative test configuration
compared to normal device use
Direct Mode


MT8860B acts as standard WLAN signal generator
and Transmitter analyzer
Chipset vendor “control software” required to
configure the DUT

Network Mode: Receiver Testing

Provides a generic solution
DUT is in STANDARD link
MT8860B transmits “UNICAST” data packets and counts the
acknowledgement (ACK) packets returned by DUT  PER
NO REQUIREMENT for chipset vendor “control software”

Network Mode: Receiver Testing

Receiver measurements with a gold card are subject
to gold card variability



Experience shows that gold cards drift apart and
parallel production lines will show variability


Output power not calibrated
Drift, cable, and attenuator uncertainty
Requires regular replacement of gold cards
MT8860B has calibrated and traceable output power
for receiver sensitivity measurements

Delivers repeatable results across all production lines
with no variation over extended time
 Better quality of shipped product
