Dose limits

The legal dose limit is 20 mSv in one year.
•

A worker receiving 20 mSv every year of his
career would have the same probability death
from professional illness (cancer) than any
worker in a “safe” industry (occupational
accident or illness).
At CERN, an action level is fixed at 6 mSv, from
whereon strict optimisation measures are taken.
Only half a dozen workers received more than
3 mSv during LS1, most workers have zero dose
