EOHHS Transition At-A-Glance
What’s happening?
Wave 1 of IT Consolidation. On February 20, 2009, Governor Patrick issued Executive Order 510 mandating IT consolidation
in all Executive departments. As a result, four levels of infrastructure services are moving to the Information Technology
Division (ITD): data/telecommunications networks, data center services, web site hosting and portal services, and shared
enterprise services, including but not limited to email and directory.
Why?
To keep the Commonwealth’s systems running as efficiently, securely, and effectively as possible while providing excellent
customer service to agencies and citizens throughout the Commonwealth.
When?
It’s already underway. Chief Information Officers from every Secretariat have been working together for the past year. Data
Center Services at EOHHS will be the first to transition to ITD. IT staff will begin transitioning roles in the coming months.
What does it mean for me?
New opportunities for you to enhance your career. Consolidation is creating efficiencies that will enable re-investments in a
stronger, more agile IT workforce. People and assets will move to MITC after July 1, 2010.
What do I need to do?
Attend one of EOHHS’ Town Hall meetings. Review the list of job functions and roles (on reverse) for an overview of
transitioning roles. Check your email on Friday for more details about upcoming opportunities.
