 After the death of Ray’s brother he began to lose his
sight and when he was seven years old he was
completely blind.
 His father and mother died when he was a young
teen.
 His wife was Della Attwine, she was a gospel singer.
 Ray Charles had three children.

 Ray Charles attended St. Augustine for the
blind.
Accomplishments
 Ray was a singer, pianist, and a composer.
 He combined elements of jazz, gospel, rhythm-and-
blues to create a new kind of African American
music, known as soul.

 I think that Ray Charles is interesting because

was blind and he knew that he could do
whatever he wanted to do nobody in what
condition you’re in.
