Daily Practices to Prevent Hardening of the Attitudes
Daily Practice: Compliments--Look for the good in others and take
time to tell them about it.
Remember to look for the good in YOU, too!
Discussion Point:
• To give a compliment is a way to give praise.
• When we compliment someone, we are:
• Reinforcing a strength they know about themselves
• Brings to their attention a strength they haven’t seen in
themselves yet
• In either situation, you are helping to build that person’s selfworth

Written Exercise Review: Appreciation Note Cards
Each student received an appreciation note card at the end of
last week’s class, and were asked to
• Select one person
• Look for something good about that person to praise
• Write a note of appreciation and give it to them
Small Group Discussion:
1) What was your experience giving a compliment to the person
you selected?
2) In your opinion, did you reinforce a strength they knew
about, or bring a strength to their attention

their experience in today’s discussion groups?
Thought to Remember:
“Tomorrow’s plants are in today’s seeds.”
-- Chinese Proverb

Today, what “seeds” am I planting for my future with my
thoughts, words and actions?
•
Today, in what ways am I building up my self-confidence?
