Focus: What can we learn about
Hebrew life from the Torah
Do Now: Does the list below remind you of anything we
have studied so far? Pick one sentence and explain in
your own words what it means.
And he that killeth any man shall surely be put to death.
And he that killeth a beast shall make it good; beast for
beast.
And if a man cause a blemish [mark] in his neighbor; as
he hath done, so shall it be done to him;
Breach for breach, eye for eye, tooth for tooth: as he hath
caused a blemish in a man, so shall it be done to him
again.
And he that killeth a beast, he shall restore it: and he
that killeth a man, he shall be put to death.

Refresher: What was the Torah?
"He [Abraham] was sitting at the entrance of the tent
as the day grew hot. Looking up, he saw three men
standing near him. As soon as he saw them, he
ran from the entrance of the tent to greet them and,
bowing to the ground, he said, 'My lords, if it
please you, do not go on past your servant. Let a
little water be brought; bathe your feet and recline
under the tree. And let me fetch a morsel of bread
that you may refresh yourselves; then go on --seeing that you have come your servant's way.'
They replied, 'Do as you have said.' Abraham
hastened into the tent to Sarah, and said 'Quick,
three measures of choice flour! Knead and make
cakes!"
