Can you do some cooking together
this week? We would love you to try
and do some baking, measuring the
ingredients, watch the time and keep
hands and surfaces nice and clean!
This week why don’t you try…
• Grouping objects in the house according
to what they start with. E.g. hand, hoover,
house, hamster.
• Write a shopping list of what you need to
buy – sound out the words carefully (don’t
worry if they are not spelled correctly as
long as they sounded them out)
Maths
We have been learning to order
numbers this week. We have
placed numbers from 1-20,
sometimes with one missing.
Can they work out which one?
What about if more numbers are
missing? Can they still go in order?
Phonics
This week we have been continuing to
listen to the first sound in words, for
example: hear the ppppp sound at the
beginning of pig and the nnnnnn sound at
the beginning of nail.
We have also been putting together some
of the sounds we have already learned to
make words. For example c
o
p.
Say the sound of each letter and repeat
this, making the middle sound longer to
blend them together to try to hear the
word the sounds make.
We have also recapped all of our tricky
words: ‘the, to, I, no’ and learned ‘go’. We
explain that it is a word that can’t be
sounded out, and has to be recognised by
sight. See if they can find this word in a
book or out on a walk.
