Transcript EARTHQUAKES

Earthquakes are the shaking of the Earth’s surface caused
by rapid movement of the Earth’s rocky outer layer.
Earthquakes occur when energy stored within Earth usually in
the form of strain in rocks, suddenly releases. This energy is
transmitted to the surface of the Earth by earthquake waves.
The study of earthquakes and the waves they create is called
seismology. Scientist who studies earthquakes are called
seismologists.
Where
Earthquakes occur
often.
In the United States
earthquakes occur
more often in
Alaska, Virgin
Islands, and
California.
My data show that
these three areas
have earthquakes a
least every 2days.
Most of these
earthquakes that
happens every 2
days that is is 2.5 or
higher. The reason
this areas have
earthquakes is plate
boundaries that
surround these
places.

but has a fault line (Wabash system.) The
only high risk area is a corner of the state
southwest.
Earthquakes and
volcanoes effects many
lives
Earthquakes are
really dangerous
and kills lots of
people and leaves
them homeless . The
same things
happens with
volcanoes.
How we can prepare
for and earthquake?
To prepare for
earthquakes our
community can
build buildings that
are resistant to
earthquakes.
Emergency plans for
supplies like food,
money and power.
