Using Our Natural Materials
• We want to use native materials in building
our town because it’s good for our economy
– Jobs for miners in our state
– Money for the mining companies that is
invested in the state
– Jobs for local geologists
– Jobs for truck drivers bringing the materials
– Local businesses that sell the local materials
Using Our Natural Materials
• Our native sandstones are beautiful
– Parts of Coconino and Yavapai Counties are often
considered sandstone-flagstone capitals of the world
• Our copper is plentiful, and, because it is local, it
is cheap to use. It is used for a variety of things,
such as:
–
–
–
–
–
Electrical wire
Brass alloy
Sculptures and other artwork
Roofs of houses and other important buildings
Ornamentation (to make things look nicer)
Our Growing Town
The following plan will show ways that these materials can be used in our
town.

Where does this rock in my hand fit
into my life?
• Our lives depend on rocks and minerals in
ways we didn’t realize
• Without these minerals and rocks, we
would not have so many of the things we
depend on such as electricity, buildings,
cement, concrete, pharmaceuticals, soil
amendments, waste water treatment
chemicals, and plastic compounds
Conclusion
• We feel that our town should use our
native materials due to the reasons
presented to you.
• We hope you will use these ideas and
keep our town beautiful and our economy
going strong.
Thank You!
