WHAT DOES MELODY MEAN?

MELODY IS CATCHY OR APPEASING
ARRANGEMENT OF SOUNDS.
ABOUT MELODIES
CREATING A MELODY CAN BE
VERY SIMPLE AND A LOT OF
FUN. HERE ARE SIMPLE
GUIDELINES TO CREATING A
MELODY:
1.
KEEP THE RHYTHM EASY
AND SIMPLE WHEN YOU
START.
2.
THE CONTOUR IS THE
SHAPE OF THE LINE.
3.
THE PEAK IS THE HIGHEST
OR LOWEST POINT.
4.
THERE SHOULD ONLY BE
ONE PEAK.
5.
THE PEAK CAN OCCUR ON
THE ARCH WHICH VARIES
FROM THE LOW TO HIGH.

INTERVERTED ARCHES ARE ONES
THAT ARE SIMPLY UPSIDE DOWN.
MAKE SURE YOU CHANGE UP
YOUR PITCH OR ELESE THE
MELODY WON’T BE INTERESTING.
YOU CAN TELL THE PITCH IS
GETTING HIGHER OR LOWER BY
THE CONTOUR OF THE MELODY.
IF ITS HIGHER THE LINE WILL GO
UP AND IF IT’S A LOWER PITCH
THE LINE WILL GO LOWER.
A DISJUNCT MELODY IS ONE
THAT RISES AND FALLS VERY
QUICKLY WITH LARGE
INTERVALS.
A CONJUNCT HAS SMALL
CHANGES IN THE PITCHES.
MIXED HAS BOTH QUALITIES OF
A DISJUNCT AND A CONJUNCT IN
IT.

MELODIES ARE MADE UP OF A
LOT OF PHRASES.
A MUSICAL PHRASE IS A GROUP
OF NOTES THAT SOUND
APPEASING TO THE EAR.
VARING THE RHYTHM AND
HARMONY OF THE MELODY
HELPS COMPELLING AND
HELPS IT SOUND PLEASANT.
AN ANTECEDENT PHRASE IS
THE FIRST PHRASE OF A
PERIOD.
A CONSEQUENT IS THE
SECOUND PHRASE OF A
PEROIOD.
PHRASES WILL OFTEN RUN
INTO EACH OTHER OR BE CUT
SHORT IN A MELODY.
MOTIF


A MOTHIF IS SHORT MUSICAL
IDEA THAT REOCCURS IN A
MUSICAL PIEACE.
MOTIF ARE USUALLY SHORTER
THAN PHRASES.
THEY REOCCUR THE SAME OR
SOMETIMES DIFFERENT
(SHORTER, FASTER, HIGHER
LOWER).
A CERTAIN TYPE OF MOTIF
CALLED A LEITMOTIF CAN BE
LONGER AND IS ASSOCIATED
WITH A PARTICULAR THING OR
PERSON IN OPERA.
COUNTERPOINTS AND THEMES

COUNTERPOINTS IN MELODIES
ARE THE COMBINATIONS OF TWO
MELODIC LINES.
MUSIC THAT CONTAIN
COUNTERPOINTS CAN ALSO BE
REFERED AS A POLYPHNY.
COUNTERPOINTS ARE USUALLY
IN INTRUSMENTAL MUSIC AND
Theme from Beethoven's
POLYPHNY ARE USED IN VOCAL
MUSIC.
Symphony No. 9
THEMES IN MUSIC IS A COMPLETE
TUNE OR MELODY WHICH IS OF
GREAT IMPORTANCE AND THAT
SIGNIFIES WHAT IS GOING ON IN
THE MUSIC.
