Year 9 Summer Project
Overview
• This project needs to be completed over the
Summer before you start your GCSE PE course
in September 2016.
• The Project will consist of 2 parts:
• Part 1 – Practical Performance in Sport
• Part 2 – Theory work in preparation for the
examination
Part 1 – Practical Task
• As part of the practical assessments you are
required to perform in 3 different sports.
• 1 must be a team sport
• 1 must be an individual sport
• 1 can be either a team or an individual sport

• Each sport will be marked out of 25
• 10 marks are awarded for how you well you
can perform skills from within that sport
• 15 marks are awarded for how you can play
within a full game

The actual task
• Your job is to select one of the sports listed on
the pervious slides and produce a video of
yourself performing the skills required, this will
be graded out of 10.

the following place –

• There is also a copy of it on the school website

The examples…
The video….
• The video should be brought to your first GCSE
lesson on a memory stick
• It needs to clearly show you performing the skills
required
• It will then be assessed and you will be given a
mark out of 10
• Then within your practical lessons in year 10 you
will be assessed in full games to get another mark
out of 15 (giving you your total out of 25)
Part 2 – The theory work
• Within your lessons throughout year 9 you
have been learning about different
components of fitness you now need to
complete a task that is related to these

• To watch 5 sports/ events from the Rio
Olympics and then select the 3 most
important components of fitness for that
sport/ event
• There is an example of what we expect to see
on the next slide

task for another sport
• You can also say which is the least important
component of fitness required for each of the
sports selected for Part 2.
