Department of Veterinary Medicine provides curricula in species-oriented specific fields, which include avian
medicine, aquatic animal medicine, companion animal medicine, swine medicine and ruminant medicine. The
staffs are well equipped with long term practice and research experiences in particular species including
individual management, farm management, disease prevention, treatment and control as well as
epidemiology. The collaborations between livestock producers and the faculty members together with the
diagnostic laboratory facilities provide great advantages in the survey and the research on some livestock
diseases. Problem-oriented and field trials are considered to be major attributions. Our programs are flexible
and students can switch between species within the program provided without the need to resign from the
program.
Key research areas :
Food animal: farm management, disease prevention, treatment and control according to each species
practice, testing of animal health products, survey and surveillance of food animal diseases, swine
cytokines.
Companion animal: infectious diseases, chronic renal failure in dogs and cats, Leptospirosis, pet
product testing.
Facilities :
All Faculty facilities, departmental microbiology laboratory, the Faculty of Veterinary Science’s Teaching
Hospitals and Aquatic Animal Reseach Center, equine blood typing laboratory, etc.
