Something nice
Advantages of Using the Website
Informal communication between students and
teachers and among students
Availability of teachers to students’ questions
Teaching outside the classroom
Answers to students’ developing needs
Means to communicate information to students
Teachers– Students Communication
Students ask questions through the forum
( with regard to subjects learned in class or general questions )
Students send lab reports to the website
(solve the problems of a printer, more convenient than a
floppy- disk, best works are published )

“ Hi Orit
With regard to the RL experiment,
I would like to know whether I need to measure only the
current without measuring phase ?”
05/03/2002 17:37
“Hi Gil
You should stick to the requirements of the matriculation
test – it is not necessary to measure phase, but you should
draw graphs for the current and phase as well as calculate
the differences between the measurements and the
theoretical calculations”
Posing Challenging Questions
In the following circuit, the capacitor has reached its steady state.
Why is the maximum voltage across the capacitor 5 volts
?
23/01/2002 22:11
“Hello Orit
I have transferred the circuit to EWB and I tried to change the
resistance – as I raised the resistance, the voltage of the capacitor
dropped and vice versa. So my conclusion is that the voltage is
5 volts as a result of a voltage drop on the resistor.”
23/01/2002 22:22
“Hi Chen
There is a connection to the resistance, but…
the capacitor tends to charge towards the voltage of the
source ( 10 volts ), so how can it be that the voltage of the
capacitor in the steady state is 5 volts ?”
23/01/2002 23:49
Another trial…
I took the capacitor out of the circuit, and the voltage remains 5
volts… so I conclude that the resistor is the only factor influencing
the voltage, and there is a voltage drop because of the large
resistance (1000 K ohm)
24/01/2002 11:15
Close, But not good enough…you haven’t explained why the
voltage drops exactly to 5 volts ?
24/01/2002 17:38
You said that there is a connection to the resistance, so I checked
that the voltmeter has an internal resistance of 1000 K ohm, which
is the same as the resistor…and that is why the voltage source
divides into two equal parts – 5 volts each.
The Influence of the Website on School
Atmosphere
Improved group pride via the forum.
The student have formed a website of their own, using the
formal forum as a means of communication
Students from other departments want to have a website of
their own, including a forum
The Goal of the Forum
Teacher:We invite you to use the forum more for educational
purposes
Student 1:Dear teachers… we feel very united, so we use the forum
for social purposes as well as for educational purposes.
Student 2:Dear teachers… when I had questions – I directed them
to you through the forum…so don’t worry…the forum will be used
for educational purposes if necessary.
