Imperativo y subjuntivo:

The command form or “imperative” for Usted and
Ustedes are identical to the present subjunctive:

Sr. Peña, por favor hable más fuerte. No le oigo.



Mr. Peña, please speak louder. I don´t hear you.
¿Dónde ponemos las zanahorias?
Pónganlas sobre la mesa.


Where do we put the carrots?
Put them on the table.

Imperativos con objetos

In affirmative commands direct, indirect and reflexive object
pronouns are placed after the verb and attached to it.

Hágalo ya
Dígales
Tráigamelas
Désela
Cómprenla
Quédense







give it to her (la maleta)
Buy it (Uds…la computadora)
Stay (Uds.)
The same rules for indirect and direct object pronouns apply for the
imperative as for other types of sentences. If there is both a direct
and indirect object, the indirect comes first. If the indirect object is
“le” or “les” it changes to “se”

In all negative commands the pronouns are placed in front
of the verb.

No lo haga don´t do it
No le hable
don´t talk to him
No me diga
don´t tell me
No se lo den
don´t give it to them (el dinero)
No me la quite don´t take it away from me (la
computadora)




Práctica: Change the following expressions
to the imperative.






Quiero que Ud. Compre dos cajas de huevos y una lata
de frijoles.
Necesito que Uds. vengan temprano.
Deseo que Ud. me prepare dos cafés.
¿Tiene Ud. mi teléfono? Quiero que me lo traigas.
Tienen Uds. que seguir a la derecha para llegar a la calle.
¿Saben el final de la película? No deben decirmelo! .
