• Pronouns replace a noun to avoid too much
repetition and make sentences simpler.
Don’t worry… You use pronouns everyday
• Look at this paragraph. It contain 8 pronouns,
can you find them?
Lucy is cooking a delicious dinner for
John. When she is finished cooking it
for him, she will serve it to him and he
will help her clean up the kitchen.

• Substitute the object with the object pronoun
1. Barbara is talking to Laura
2. Diana is looking at Barbara and
Laura through the window
3. The dog is eating spaghetti
4. The woman with glasses is serving
spaghetti to Laura.
Pronouns
• There are two kinds of object pronouns :
DIRECT object pronouns answer the
question “Who?” or “What”.
Example: I like chocolate – You like what? I like it.
INDIRECT object pronouns answer the
question “ to whom?”.
Example: I gave it to John – You gave it to whom? – I
gave it to him.

Les COD et les COI vont AVANT le verbe. S’il y a deux verbes, mettez les COD
et les COI avant le deuxième verbe.

right one…
• Luckily There is just one rule: they go before the
infinitive, or the “important” verb
