What are subjects and verbs?
 Subjects are the person or thing who is
doing the action of the verb.
 Examples: I ate; the dog sleeps; Tia talks
too much
 Verbs are action words.
 Examples: eat, sleep, talk, walk
What is subject-verb agreement?
 The verb must always agree with its subject.
 The verb form can change depending on
whether the subject is singular or plural.
 Examples: Her friends are at the party; The
book is beside the door.
Indefinite Pronouns
 Anyone, everyone, someone, no one, nobody are
always singular and require singular verbs.
 Examples: Everyone has ate his or her food;
Nobody has left his or her book.
 All or some are singular or plural depending on
what they are referring too.( Be careful choosing
verbs to accompany such pronouns.
 Examples: Some of the pieces to the puzzles are
missing; Some of the soda is gone.
