El Pretérito- The Preterite Tense
OBJECTIVE: TLW use the Preterite tense to express the actions
in the past.
1. The Preterite tense is one of the past tenses in Spanish.
2. It is used to express an action that has been completed with
a definite time period (ej. last night, yesterday, last week).
3. The regular preterite tense is very easy to form. Drop the
last two letters from the infinitive. Add the appropriate
ending.
4. In the preterite tense, the –er/-ir endings are the exact
same in ALL forms.

Ir+a+infinitive (Simple future tense)
1. Ir+a+infinitive is the formula used to express/say “going to do
something.”
2. “Ir” is a verb. It means “to go.”
*5 conjugations of the verb ir (to go)*

1. “a” will be in each sentence. It will not change.
2. The infinitive is the last thing needed in each sentence. All
infinitives in Spanish end in either –ar, -er, or –ir.
