Engineering a Better World
• October 22nd from 10:10am-12:10pm!
• 20 minute workshop for 5 groups to give middle school
girls an idea of how engineering can help us create a
"better" world (healthier, safer, more sustainable)
• SWE needs some volunteers to help with our rotation,
look for a sign up sheet in the Weekly SWEmail
ASCE Career Night 2016

Bio/Diversity Internship
Are you interested in fostering engagement and
diversity in the environmental sciences?
If so, apply to the
Bio/Diversity Internship Program
Get hands-on experience working in science education and outreach in local schools
AND work directly with staff from the National Park Service and the
Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum!
High achieving UA students will have the opportunity to gain additional work experience
via the Next Generation Ranger Program as summer or school-year PAID interns.
3 credit course
Available through the Soil, Water and Environmental Science Department,
the Gender and Women’s Studies Department, and the UA Honors College
10 hour per week time commitment — interns will spend 5 hours per week in a local,
K-12 school and an additional 5 hours per week attending trainings and developing
program materials at the University of Arizona

December 1st, 2016

UROC
The application for UROC – the University of Arizona’s premiere
undergraduate research program for all majors is now open! If you
have the aptitude and drive to enjoy research and apply to graduate
school please consider applying. A couple things to keep in mind:
• UROC is not just a summer program! Our UROC-PREP & STAR
program is open to all majors and offers year-round research & grad
school application services
• UROC seeks academically talented students who are:
–
juniors or seniors, with a 3.00 GPA or above, from groups
underrepresented in higher education
– we are not a good fit for students interested in professional programs such
as law, medicine, business
