Biography

Date of Birth- May 21,1471

Date of Death- April 6,1528

Childhood/Family Life- Born in Franconia, a city of Nuremberg, lived with
his father who was a Hungarian Goldsmith. He was pressure greatly by all
the stress and suffered a nervous breakdown in 1519. because of his
imagination and creativity, he was considered a Renaissance man.
A famous life…

How they come to be an artist- by 1484 Durer had started painting,
by 1486 he was suggested to be the painter & printmaker, after that he
was recognized by many others.

Famous for- The most famous of all works is said to be his self
portrait. The Apocalypse (1498), Large Woodcut Passion (1497–1500), and
the Life of the Virgin (1500). -three of the most famous works of his. He was
also well known for his woodcuts he created.

Impact- He was one of the greatest artists who made a big impact on artists
everywhere with the use of tempera and glazes.

1497; The third and most
famous woodcut was the four
horsemen of the Apocalypse.
1508; was created when Durer
was around 37. It was said to
belong to the Mature period of
Durer.
1512; This painting was
considered to be Durer’s most
famous of all because it was a
self portrait. It was painted at
the age of 28.
1504; This painting is of Job and
his wife. He reflects
Protestantism throughout is
paintings. He believed paintings
should reflect how the person
was before death.
