History
Omega is a Hungarian rockband, founded
in 1962, and celebrated the 45th
anniversary in 2007.They were the first
who used uniform customes on the stages
and used smoke machine, laser show, and
projector.

Omega is mentioned as the „Rolling Stones
of East ’’ because they were founded in the
same year and nowdays it belongs to the
oldest active rockbands.
That time their management changed the name to
„Omega Red Star ’’. They could play in famous
English clubs, they got contract for making discs.
They could make their first English album, called „
Omega Red Star from Hungary ’’.
Omega became famous, they played
in films, music festivals. They had
a big opportunity to go to England
in 1968.
The most famous SP was made in 1969: The
Sunset / Old fellows. Their greatest hit is the
„The Girl With Pearl’s Hair’’. It is a adopted
by the German Frank Schöbel and in 1995
by Scorpions „ White Dove ’’.
They returned back to England making the
second album, but the Hungarian Disc
Company didn’t let them to make an LP on
abroad because they didn’t have LP in
Hungary before.
In 1970 they went to Tokyo for the Yamaha
festival. They were very famous in West and East
Germany both. They got a contract from Warner
publisher. In 2009 they went to Poland. In 2010
they had concerts in the most of festivals in
Hungary, for example: VOLT, SZIGET.
