The DEA defined
•The Drug Enforcement
Administration (DEA) is a
United States Department of
Justice law enforcement
agency tasked with enforcing
the Controlled Substances

•Not only is the DEA the
lead agency for domestic

drug laws (sharing
concurrent jurisdiction
with the Federal Bureau of
Investigation), it also has
sole responsibility for
coordinating and pursuing
U.S. drug investigations
abroad.
History of the DEA

Nixon’s Reorganization

My Focus Interests
•Drug Trafficking from Latin America
–Cocaine
•Domestic Drug Production
–Meth
Cocaine in Latin America
• While the problem of cocaine is
devastating around the world, it is
largely produced out of mere
necessity in the Columbian province
of Caquetá.
A New and Personal Focus…
• While the battle front of drug prevention
remains largely outside of our borders,
Domestic drug manufacturing runs
rampant.
An Interesting Parallel…
Tactics for Fighting Meth
• Restricting and Monitoring
ingredients for homemade
methamphetamines has proved to be
an exceptional method of fighting the
domestic production of this drug.
Tactics for Fighting Meth
• Promotions and visuals, as well as other
programs, that assert the negative and
disturbing truths of meth usage and
production are being widely spread in
hopes that the readers will take the
alarming problem behind meth to heart.
God Bless the DEA!
• Just like our military, the DEA was
created to protect U.S. citizens from
foreign invaders and to keep peace at
times of war, metaphorically
speaking.
• There is acknowledgement of the
Degradation of Society.
