THE TALE OF A KNIGHT
by: malinda viel
O
nce upon a time in a land far away that was shaped
like a mitten
lived a soon to be law student.
It was a beautiful spring day and this girl’s college softball team
(that just happened to be called the KNIGHTS)
had just won the Conference championship
As the team was celebrating on the field an evil ogre captured three of the knights
and drug them away to a dungeon (actually it was just a locker room)
where they were forced to pee in a plastic cup while a troll watched.
One of the knights just could not “produce” and was kept in the dungeon for over two hours .
The prelaw knight felt this drug test was extremely unfair,
but she remembered the consent agreement she had signed five months earlier,
without which she would not have been allowed to compete.
Not yet educated in matters of law the knight sucked it up, peed in the cup,
endured the mockery of her teammates and tried to forget about the incident,
until she entered law school.
Law School began and the knight set off on a quest to find out if the random drug test
conducted on her was constitutional.
In order to find the answer she had to journey into the unknown and mysterious land
of the library.
