tackle key issues raised around the vibrant agenda

Reduce the level of violent crime, including gender-based and
domestic violence

Reduce the impact and incidence of anti-social behaviour

Reduce the involvement of young people in crime and as
victims of crime and accidents

Reduce injuries as a result of road traffic incidents, fires and
incidents in the home

Reduce the number of accidental fires in the home and in
doing so reduce the number of associated deaths and injuries

Provision of Education and awareness programme to prevent
and reduce the number of incidents where fire hydrants are
vandalised or deliberately opened and incidents of deliberate
fire setting

Reduce the level of violent crime, including gender based and
domestic violence
Local Priorities

Road Safety, Youth Disorder, Street Drinking and
issues related to Dogs (roaming, fouling and
barking). The overwhelming comment on what
would improve the quality of life was “more police
on the street”. There was also concern expressed
about ‘Drug dealing’, ‘Drug/alcohol/ substance
misuse’, ‘Vandalism and graffiti’ and ‘Safety of
children’

Tackle territorialism, racism and sectarianism
Local Priorities
Greater Pollok & Newlands/Auldburn (GPNA)

Provide innovative youth work projects, in particular in play,
sport and culture

Build pride in the community, starting with a willingness to
speak up on crime
Raise the profile of safety by working with schools, youth
organisations & young people


Communicate better with the public on objectives and
strategies

Counter the culture that tolerates assaults on firefighters,
police officers and bus drivers

Provision of a wider range of affordable sports
facilities as diversionary activity

Tackle litter, graffiti and vandalism

Improve support for youth work to support
tackling gang related disorder

Improve lighting, landscaping and maintenance to
increase pride in the local area
