SUMO-BOT CONSTRUCTION
 Remote control cars can be used IF modified
 Electric power, Radio remote – no wires
 School name on the bot
 Must be able to operate on three frequencies
 Max size 40 cm x 40 cm x 40 cm at any time during the competition
 Max weight of 2.0 kg, includes batteries, does not include remote
 Combined voltage of all batteries in the bot must be 14.4 or less
 No projectiles, flames, sharp objects, magnets, pneumatic devices
SUMO-BOT COMPETITION
 Double Elimination Tournament
 Impound – everything : bots, tools, batteries, controller
 No recharging facilities, no recharging devices impounded
 No work done after impound and before 1 st match.
 Ring dimensions: 5.0 ft by 5.0 ft square (smooth, hard floor)
 90 second prep - 2 minute rounds – 1st bot out loses – lighter bot wins if neither
is pushed out
 Penalties: stalling , driving out of ring -- see handout for more details
 May have 2 rings going at same time – depends upon number of entries
 Can work on devices between matches – must work in the controlled area.
SUMO-BOT SCORING
 Intentional damage to another bot or the ring will result in disqualification
 1st – Tournament winner
2nd – Tournament runner up
3rd and on – ranked by number of wins
 Tie breakers
 total times of lost matches divided by mass (higher is better)
 mass (lower is better)
 Bots that don’t meet specs will ranked below all compliant bots and will not be
allowed to compete in main tournament. Non-compliant sub-tournament possible.
