(I3N - JA)
Background Information
National Alien Invasive Species Information Project
(I3N – JA) is the Jamaican node of a regional effort.
This Inter-American Biodiversity Information Network
(IABIN) effort seeks to identify information needs and
gaps on invasive species in 13 countries.
I3N – JA Objective: to locate, systematically
document and provide electronic access to sources
of information on alien invasive species issues.
Jamaica received US$12,000.00 through the U.S.
Geological Survey (USGS), with support from the
Environmental Diplomacy Fund of the U.S. State
Department.

1. I3N – JA is managed by the Jamaica ClearingHouse Mechanism (JA CHM) located at the
Natural History Division, Institute of Jamaica.
The JA CHM is the national biodiversity information
network established through a U.N. treaty on biodiversity.
Collaboration with various government and nongovernment agencies through an advisory
committee.
