Adaptations - 10
What is an adaptation? What are the four
ways adaptations help animals?
Adaptations Answer – 10
• a physical feature or behavior that helps an
animal get food, protect itself, move, or
reproduce
Adaptations - 20
• What are four types of Adaptations we
studied?
Adaptations Answer – 20
• Migration, Hibernation, Camouflage, and
Mimicry
Adaptations - 30
How is camouflage different from mimicry?
Name 3 ways they’re different.
Adaptations Answer – 30

Camouflage
Animal IS hiding/
blending in
Animal is acting like it’s
part of its
SURROUNDINGS/ NATURE
Animal IS hard to find
Used to hide from
predators or prey
Mimicry
•Animal is NOT hiding
•Animal is acting like or
copying another

Food Chains and Webs
- 10
All Food Chains and Webs start with what?
Food Chains and Webs
Answer – 10
• A producer

What do the arrows in a food chain or web
show? Which way do they point?
Food Chains and Webs
Answer – 20
• The arrows show the flow/movement of food
energy
• Arrows point to where the energy goes – NOT
what got eaten by what
Food Chains and Webs
- 30
What is a food web? What is the difference
between a food chain and a food web?
Food Chains and Webs
Answer – 30
• A food web is several food chains that overlap
• In a food web, each producer or consumer is
eaten by more than one consumer

Habitats - 10
What is a Habitat?
Habitats Answer – 10
• An environment that meets the needs of a
living thing
Habitats - 20
What are the four things that all living things
need?
Habitats Answer – 20
• Food, water, shelter, mate
Habitats - 30
What are biotic factors in an ecosystem? Name
four biotic factors that can influence (change)
the population of plants or animals in an
ecosystem.
Habitats Answer – 30
• Biotic = living
• Too many herbivores can wipe out the
producers
• Too many carnivores can wipe out another
species
• Dry weather or diseases kills producers
• Introducing a new plant/animal
Battles - 40
Which battle was the turning point of the war?
What happened and why was it the turning
point?
Battles Answer – 40
• Battle of Saratoga
• Americans won & forced 5,000 British soldiers
to surrender
• This war was a turning point b/c it convinced
the French that America could win
• France became our ally and sent money,
soldiers, and powerful navy to help the
Americans. They also taught the Americans to
march together and use their weapons
properly (our army was new at this point)
Battles - 50
What happened at the Battle of Yorktown?
Battles Answer – 50
• British went to Yorktown b/c it was located
between 2 rivers. They thought it would make
it easy to get troops and supplies to the British
• Washington’s army (Continental Army) and
French navy met them at Yorktown
• French navy blocked Yorktown harbor so the
British ships couldn’t rescue the British army.
• British were trapped, had no way to escape
• British surrendered (gave up)
Types of Organisms- 10
• What is a producer?
• Is a producer an herbivore, carnivore, or
omnivore? Explain.
Types of Organisms Answer – 10
• A producer is a plant.
• A producer is ONLY a producer – it cannot be
an herbivore, carnivore or omnivore.
Producers get their food from the nutrients in
the soil and from making sugar through
photosynthesis
• Herbivore, carnivore, omnivore are categories
of CONSUMERS. Organisms are either
producers (plants) or consumers (animals).
Types of Organisms - 20
Can an organism be both predator and prey?
Explain.
Types of Organisms Answer – 20
• Yes.
• An omnivore or carnivore is a predator to the
animals it eats. It is also prey to the animals that eat
it.
Types of Organisms - 30
Hay
Rabbit
Snake
Here is a food chain. Tell which organisms are
producers and consumers, the type of
consumer, and who is predator and who is
prey.

to rule themselves
Vocabulary - 10
What does abiotic mean?
Vocabulary Answer – 10
• Non living
Vocabulary - 20
What is a decomposer?
Bonus (20 pts): What is an example of a
decomposer? Where does a decomposer fit
into a food chain?
Vocabulary Answer – 20
• an organism, usually a bacteria or fungus, that
breaks down the cells of dead plants and
animals and turns them into part of the soil
• Ex: mushrooms, worms
• Decomposers belong at the very end of a food
chain
Vocabulary - 30
What is an endangered species?
Vocabulary Answer – 30
• An endangered species is a species of
organisms facing a very high risk of extinction.
When we say an animal is extinct it means
that the species is no longer living and no
longer exists.
