Emerson Biodiversity
• Do you think Emerson has high or low
biodiversity?
• Why?
• Do you think we found all the animal species?
• How many are there?
• More native or non-native species?
Emerson Biodiversity
• What is the importance of biodiversity?
– Ecosystem processes and services – water,
climate, oxygen, pollination
– Materials and goods – medicine, wood, food
– Aesthetic, cultural, and recreation value
• What are threats to biodiversity?
– Habitat loss, hunting, non-native or exotic species,
pollution, climate change
