What do these organisms have in
common?





They have been introduced to an
ecosystem.
They are considered invasive.
They may cause environmental harm.
They may cause economical harm.
They may pose a threat to human health.
Key terms



Native species - a species which is
native to an ecosystem
Alien species - a species not native to
the ecosystem.
Exotic species - a non-native species
When is an introduced species
invasive?


A species in an ecosystem is considered to
be invasive when it is not native (alien) to
the ecosystem and cause economic and/or
environmental harm, or poses a threat to
human health.
All types of living organisms (plants,
animals, bacteria, etc.) can be invasive.
Your project

You will research an invasive species and
give a news report or documentary using
either Power Point, Photo Story or Movie
