Vocabulary
18. Net Force – the overall force when all individual forces are
added together.
Vocabulary
19. Unbalanced forces – a nonzero net force that changes an
object’s motion
Vocabulary
20. Balanced forces – equal forces acting on an object in opposite
directions
Vocabulary

Newton’s
Law of Motion
AKA: Inertia
An object at rest tends to stay at rest and an object in motion tends
to stay in motion with the same speed and in the same direction
unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.
Newton’s
nd
2
Law of Motion
The net force of an object is equal to the product of its acceleration
and its mass.
Force = mass x acceleration
F=mxa

Law of Motion
Units are Newtons (N) where N = kg x m/s^2
One Newton (N) = the force required to accelerate one kilogram of
mass at one meter per second per second
