Vocabulary

Force – strength or power exerted/put on
an object, a push or pull that causes a
change in the motion of an object
Acceleration – change of velocity or
speed
Velocity – the rate of speed with which
something happens
Speed – rate of motion
Friction – the resistance of movement on
surfaces that touch.
Mass – the amount of matter in an object





Gravity – the force of attraction that moves
bodies towards the center of the earth.
Inertia – the tendency of a body to preserve its
state of rest or motion unless acted upon by an
external force.
Newton (N) – the unit for the amount of force
an object contains.
Traction – a kind of friction that allows wheels
to turn without slipping on a surface.
Weight – a measure of the heaviness of an
object.
