To every action force there is an
equal and opposite reaction force
• Ex #1 Person jumping on a trampoline
Action Force = Person pushing down on
trampoline causes it to stretch
Reaction Force = Trampoline goes back to
its original shape and shoots you up

• Ex #2 Person Swimming
Person pushes on the water (action force)
Water pushes back causing the swimmer to
propel forward (reaction force)
• Ex #3 Rocket Propulsion
Explosion of gases in a sealed chamber
leave out the back end (action force)

Property an object has because of its mass
and velocity
How much umph or force an object has that
is moving and has mass
More mass = more momentum
More velocity = more momentum
P = Momentum, M = Mass, V = Velocity
P = M (kg) x V (m/s2)
