Majority of the immigrants that came to the Northeast Region came looking for
a job. There were also others looking for the opportunity to practice their own
religion freely. William Penn was granted a charter from the King to set up
Pennsylvania. Here anyone could practice their own religion freely. We still
religious tolerance today in Pennsylvania through the Amish People.
Most of the immigrants that came into the Northeast Region

Two major geographical features of the Southeast Region is the Mississippi River and the
Coastal Plain. The Mississippi River is a major source of transportation for exporting and
importing goods into the United States. The Coastal Plain provides rich fertile soil for growing
crops and raising livestock. Click the picture to learn about the Mississippi River and the

People of the South
Important events in American History took place in the
South. Many of the Civil War battles occurred in the

The prairie of the Mid-west was important to the
development of the United States. The flat land
allows for some of our favorite foods to be grown
there. The Great Lakes are unique. Check out the
sites for more incredible information.
List the five Great Lakes.
What kinds of crops are grown on the prairie.
Thanks to the farmers in the Midwest, we are able to eat BREAD!
Click on the wheat plants to learn how wheat is grown and
processed. Due to the large amounts of snow found in the some of
the states in the Midwest region, hockey is a sport loved by money.
