Italy
hit by four powerful
earthquakes in four hours,
bringing terror to region trying
to recover from last year's
deadly tremors

A tragedy in the tragedy

Due to the earthquake an avalanche of 120.000 tons buried a
ski resort in Farindola, Abruzzo region, at the base of Mount
Gran Sasso.

29 casualties, 11 rescued, among them 4 children

The new earthquakes and avalanches affected already badlydamaged towns and villages in the regions of Abruzzo, Lazio
and Marche, where around 300 people lost their lives last
August.
A controversial location for a hotel
During this weekend
 The area
is blanketed in heavy snow after
unusually severe winter weather over the
last week. Snowstorms made the job of
emergency services even harder than
usual, with vehicles struggling to reach
remote areas to check on mountain
villages and outlying farms.

Thank you to all the rescue teams and GRAZIE to WALTER BUCCI,
doctor, and to A DAVIDE DE CAROLIS, technician, both member of
Italian National Alpine and Speleological Rescue Corp. They saved
many lives. Their helicopter fall last week during a rescue operation.
